After attending film school at the University of Colorado, I knew I wanted to work locally. I found that the market was saturated with huge advertising agencies that dominated and freelancers working alone and competing with one another. This creates a big dilemma for the consumer: ‘Do I go for quality at the overpriced ad agency, or do I save money and expect one person to satisfy all my needs?’

I thought to myself, ‘There has to be a better way.’

From this I created the Cool Calm Collective. I shifted my focus from salaried employees to finding the most effective way of working with creatives. I found that many freelancers wanted to work with a consistent team but didn’t know if or how it could work. I discovered that there is a way for people to focus on what they do best, and contribute to a team effort without a traditional business model.
